DAY 2 ACTIVITY 2

Activity 2
One of the most popular activities in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is called ‘Bullfighting.’ It has been a part of Spanish culture for centuries. In bullfighting people called ‘toreros and ‘matadors’ fight with a live bull. The toreros do most of the fighting and, ultimately, capture the bull and tie it up. Once it has been caught, the matador joins the fight and kills the bull. Although most toreros and matadors are men, there are some women who also compete in the sport.
Not everyone supports bullfighting in Spain. In fact, about 30% of the population want it to be banned (stopped) completely. What do you think? On your blog tell us whether or not you think that bullfighting should be banned in Spain. Please provide, at least, two reasons to support your decision.

REASONS
My reason why we should stop bullfighting is that 40,000 bulls die a year from bullfighting.

We should stop bullfighting because soon or later bulls will be extinct.

  1. Hi Macky,

What true reasons you have there.I feel sad for all those bulls that have lost their lifes... Anyways hopefully may the bullfighting be banned sooner or now:)

  2. Yeah hey Macky,
I was just reading your writing and it is impressive and I agree with you they need to be in the wild somewhere in the jungle.Anyways just agree with your writing because those poor animals might be extinct because the selfish people don't treat them with respect so that's what they get when they get hit by the bull.Who would even want to go do bullfighting certain injures would happen many times.

Other than that have a great blogging session so keep your work up don't quit now YOU CAN DO IT!.

Keep your awesome work up man :):)

  3. Kia ora Macky!

I'm Mark, one of the teachers working on the Summer Learning Journey these holidays.

I think you might find that bulls are male cows, and you know that there many, many cows and that we eat lots of them. I don't think we would let them go extinct from bull fighting. But I like how you thought of that, it was really clever.

One of the numbers I've come across says as many as 250,000 bulls are killed every year for the sport, which is huge! All killed just for fun. It seems a bit unnecessary. I think you're right there too.

Anyway, I am enjoying reading through everyone's blogs, including yours! I wonder which one I'll comment on next.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

    Mark

  4. Kia ora Macky,

Thank you for sharing your opinion about bullfighting. Wow that is a lot of bulls dying for the sake of 'entertainment'. I think that's really sad don't you? Killing animals for a traditional game doesn't seem like very much fun at all. I agree with you that bullfighting should be banned.

Whilst there are currently hundreds and thousands of different species that are currently endangered or near extinction, bulls are on no danger of becoming extinct. We would have to be killing millions are bulls per year all over the world to put them in danger of that. Although just because they're not endangered doesn't mean that we should keep killing them for sport!

Did you know that last year Giant Pandas finally made it off the endangered species list? How cool is that! You can check out what animals are still currently endangered if you want to by following this link:

Awesome blogging so far Macky, keep on going!

    Cheers,
    Dan.
