Activity 2
Some families are very large and some are very small. Some of the smallest families are found in China where parents are allowed, by law, to have only one child. This is quite different from countries like America (U.S.A.) where some families have as many as 19 or 20 children. It is rare but it does happen!
In America, there is actually a family with 19 children who have their own television show called ’19 Kids and Counting.’ All 19 children have the same two parents (Jim Bob and Michelle) and every single one of the children has a name starting with the letter ‘J.’ The oldest children is a boy named Josh and the youngest is a girl named Josie. Amazing!
If you’d like to see a small clip from the show, follow this link: 19 Kids and Counting
Imagine that you were one of the Duggar children and you had 18 brothers and sisters. What do you think it would be like to have so many sisters and brothers living with you in one house? On your blog please tell us what you would like and what you wouldn’t like about living in such a large family.

If I had 18 brothers and sisters it will be cool because we could all play dodge ball, rugby, tag.

But the thing that I don’t like about having 18 brothers and sisters is that we will always argue about clothes, food, devices.

Activity 1
Now that you have met my family it is time to think about your own family. On your blog tell us about your family. How many people are in your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters? What are their names?
I have 8 people in my family, I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters. My older brother’s name is Siliva and then it goes Chris, and then Stanley and then it goes me and last but not least Leka, my sister Akesa is the oldest sister after her it goes monique and then Lose.

Activity 1
What are your favourite things to do in the summer time? For this activity you have two different options: (1) You can take a picture of yourself doing one of your favourite summer time activities and upload it to your blog along with a description of what you’re doing or (2) you can write a paragraph that tells us about what you love doing in the summer on your blog. It is completely up to you!

In the summer I like go to the Maraetai beach, it’s a long way to get there. At the beach I like bombing off the bridge,I stand on the tall part of the bridge. My second thing I like to do in the summer is playing outside with my cousins and playing at the park.

Activity 2
Some of the most famous foods to come out of New Zealand include kiwifruit, lamb, whitebait, oysters, tuatua (shellfish), kumara, bacon and egg pie, hokey pokey ice cream, lolly cake, anzac biscuits and pavlova. Take a picture of you (or someone you know!) eating one of these famous ‘kiwi’ foods. Post the picture to your blog. Underneath the picture tell us what they are eating.

This person is eating a kiwi frui.

Activity 1
Compare the picture of common breakfast foods in the country you’ve chosen with what you typically eat for breakfast here in New Zealand. I usually have a bowl of sultana bran cereal with trim milk and a cup of tea. What about you? On your blog, please tell us:
  1. What you eat for breakfast
  2. What people in your chosen country eat for breakfast
  3. Which of the two breakfast options (your breakfast or the breakfast in the other country) you prefer. Why do you prefer it?
1.I eat 4 slices of toasted bread with butter and jam on top, and I also drink tea with it.
2.In Germany people eat Brotchen (bread), cheese and salami platter for breakfast.
3.I would prefer Germany’s breakfast because when you try new food for breakfast it’s more better then having the same breakfast every week.

Activity 1
Once you have read these phrases you will be ready to leave the airport and head to your hotel. Take a moment and imagine how you might feel if you were standing in the airport in a foreign country and you had to figure out how to communicate with people in a brand new language. Would you be scared? Would you feel confident? Write a short poem that describes how you might be feeling (i.e. excited, happy, scared, nervous, etc).

If I were standing in an airport in a foreign country I would be scared and nervous because someone like me in a foreign country would be really scary because I wouldn’t understand what other people say to me and I wouldn’t know how to speak that kind of language.

Activity 2
Read the following three reviews of books that are really popular right now in Canada. If you had to choose one for Curious Kiwi to read on the plane, which one would you choose? Post the name of the book that you would chose on your blog. Below the title explain why you would choose that book.

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\DoaWK image.jpgBook 3: Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Ugly Truth
Greg Heffley has always been in a hurry to grow up. But is getting older really all it’s cracked up to be? Greg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressures of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and even the awkward changes that come with getting older—all without his best friend, Rowley, at his side. Can Greg make it through on his own? Or will he have to face the “ugly truth.”

I would choose Diary of a Wimpy Kid because I think it is Hilarious, and it reminds me of the mischievous things I did when I was young.

Activity 1
Think about all of the books that you have read this year and recommend one for Curious Kiwi to read. On your blog list the title and author of the book and then provide a short description of it. What is the book about?
This book is written and Illustrated
by Jeff Kinney.

Greg Heffley get’s a diary and writes about how his  summer is going, he has a lot of challenges to face, mockery, trust, mischief and embarrassment, but most of all his friendship. One day a bunch of teenagers corned Greg and Rowley in the school courts, they hassled both of them and forced them to eat the horrific mouldy cheese which has been on the court grounds for years. When the teenagers left both Greg and Rowley stood there frozen thinking of what they had eaten. The next day, they were very nervous of what would happen once someone found out that the mouldy cheese was gone. When it was recess everyone ran to the school court realising that the cheese was gone. A lot of theories were explained like, Maybe the cheese grew legs and it walked away, or maybe an abduction happened. Greg couldn’t hold it in anymore so then he made up a story and said that he had picked it up and threw it away because he was annoyed of  people being scared of the cheese touch. Sadly Greg thought he was a hero but instead, everyone ran away from him. “Having the cheese touch isn’t so bad” said Greg. He was very happy that afternoon and went home to play games with his best friend Rowley.
